There are so many commercials advertising great deals for new cars in December.
But who really gives cars as Christmas presents? Really? Seriously?
If you can, I applaud you! You rock!
For most of us, whether we are looking for a Toyota Prius, a Honda Civic, a Ford Focus, or a Bentley, we care about a great deal. Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah or any of the other December celebrations that I embrace notwithstanding, I still want the best price I can get, and the holiday is not a reason not to get it.
Getting the best price on a new car is not easy. Many of the alleged deals offered this time of the year are intriguing, but how does anyone know if these prices are great, or if they are just nice for now? Maybe they were also interesting any other time and now, because we want to give a gift (really?) they look better.
How do you really know you are getting the best price on a Ford Fiesta? The only real way is to get lots of dealers to give you offers, compare, tell all the dealers about the prices you are getting and make them compete. You will get the best price.
Does that process sound like a holiday experience that you want? To me, it sounds like an experience that sucks.
If I want to get my significant other a Mazda Tribute and I want to do the least work possible (I am a man and less work sounds great to me), I want someone or something that will take the hard work off my hands. I want to get offers from a bunch of dealers without getting calls or emails (calls from dealers during the holidays is the last thing I want…really, seriously.) I want the best offers I can get, so having those dealers compete with each other sounds great. I want to go to the dealer that behaved the best and get my car, which I am giving to my significant other (or I might just keep for myself…if I really like it.)
That experience would be my “holiday to remember.” Sadly, there is no way to do this without a ton of hard work. It will take me hours, or even days, and I will pay for years in terms of spam and calls. There is no way out…but maybe there is…maybe, just maybe, the Grinch’s heart grew three sizes and maybe the Who’s down in Whoville learned even more that year…and maybe Whoville met WooVille in a place called CarWoo and maybe in CarWoo everyone’s deal expanded by three times.
AdoWooMous…AdouWoomous…CarWooMoumous!
Happy Holidays!
