The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS for short, though this acronym is almost as hard to pronounce as the full name) today named the 2011 Mazda3 the “Top Safety Pick.”
The IIHS implements four kinds of tests for cars it’s considering for the award – front, side, rear and roof and evaluates how well these areas perform in collisions. Well, rather, it evaluates how well the crash test dummies come out of the collisions.
The 2011 Mazda was rated “good” in each category. (And there’s no “great,” so “good” is actually “the best.”)
The Mazda3 is already the best selling car of its make in the United States (probably all of those “Zoom Zoom” commercials). While it might not be the rarest car on the road, it will keep you (and the crash test dummies you cart around town) more safe than any other ride would.
