Two Tidbits Of Information From Your Neighborhood Car Companies

Here comes a little bit of irony from Ford. The company is recalling 140,310 (no more, no less) of its 2012 Focuses for potential issues with the passenger-side windshield wiper motor. What’s ironic about that? Well…

The seal plug in the wiper motor may be missing, allowing water into the motor’s electrical connection, resulting in an inoperative wiper on the passenger side. (An apparent lack of focus on behalf of Ford employees in assembling said Focus.)

If the wipers become inoperable because of this lack of focus, the passenger and driver will be unable to focus out of their Focus windshields.

Thank you, Ford.

Now for the tidbit about Chrysler Group. In the second half of the year, Chrysler will be the first automaker to offer in-vehicle wireless (WIRELESS!) charging in their 2013 Dodge Darts. For $199.99 (including installation!), an integrated power bin, measuring 8.27 inches by 9.5 inches by 3.25 inches, is installed below the center stack in front of the center console. The bin’s got a little charging grid that juices your mobile.

What a nice little option for drivers and passengers who are totally fed up with all those wires hanging in and around and between the seats.

Of course this does little to prevent drivers from being tempted to use their mobile while driving, but who the heck cares! No more wires! No more energy-sapped phones when you get where you go!
