Predictions for the Top Selling Cars of 2011

My Grade 6 teacher Ms West would fail anyone who began an essay with the following kind of statement: “According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica supply-demand is defined as….”.  Since I’m no longer in Grade 6, Ms. West is long retired, and it’s almost 2011, I can safely begin my blog post with the following statement: Wikipedia has a good article on Supply-Demand

The dynamics of Supply-Demand hold true in the CarWoo! marketplace.  During Cash for Clunkers we saw prices trend over invoice because there was so much increased interest in cars during that promotion.  If we use our marketplace as a proxy for future consumer demand we can look at the realtime interest in cars (currently and ones that should be released in 2011) and use that to predict what will be the top sellers in 2011.

Based on early demand by looking at thousands of requests made for cars in December ourpredictions for the top selling (by volume) cars of 2011 will be:

  • Toyota Camry
  • Ford Fusion
  • Honda Odyssey
  • Honda CR-V
  • Nissan Altima

I’m so confident in this prediction that I’ll make a bet with any reader of this blog.  If, at the end of 2011, my prediction on the top 5 selling cars of 2011 isn’t true I’ll send out some sweet CarWoo! schwag to anyone who has a more accurate guess.  All you have to do is post your own prediction for the top 5 selling cars of 2011 (it doesn’t have to be in order) and we’ll contact you in 1 year and see who was right and who was wrong.
