640 ponies, and an enormous 8.4 liter V10 engine. Traction and stability control. An active suspension, adjusting moment to moment. Elegant and dangerous design. Sleek. Powerful.
It’s the 2013 Dodge Viper.
Seductive, right? Chrysler Group is reintroducing the Viper for the first time since shuttering the brand in 2010, but with a different name. No longer will the Viper have the Dodge first name; instead, Chrysler is calling the new super car the SRT Viper.
The company will release a basic Viper, and an upgraded version with more luxury features. Ralph Gilles, the SRT brand chief and head Chrysler designer, told the New York Auto Show that Chrysler “won’t really make a lot of money on the car, “ but, more importantly, “they were happy to have their soul back.”
That’s a nice looking soul, even if it’s expected to cost more than six figures.
