Okay, I may have created this post, in part, just so I could use my wonderful title. But in all seriousness, for all you CarWoo! buyers who are hoping to secure a hybrid Sonata soon, you may be waiting a few weeks before getting your hands on your new eco-friendly ride.
The reason for this delay can actually be attributed to our Commander in Chief, who signed a bill earlier this year requiring that quiet, eco-happy cars have an automatic audible warning system to alert pedestrians of their presence. The systems on most Sonata’s were built to be user-activated, so Hyundai is delaying their release until it can fix this issue.
I wonder how many environmental and gas mileage loving new car buyers will wait for the debut, and how many will switch over to the Prius or the Insight. Tracking the numbers on this new competitor will be an interesting watch over the next few months.
