CarWoo! Presents the Ferrari Owners Group Road Rally for Charity!

If you’re hanging out around the Golden Gate Bridge at, say, 9:30am on September 24th, you may notice something a bit odd. Like a police car escorting 50 Ferraris across the bridge. And a helicopter. And the coolest part is – the entire event is for the benefit of some awesome San Francisco area kids.

Here’s what’s going down: members of the Ferrari Owners Group of the SF Bay area will be driving 50 Ferraris from San Francisco to Los Angeles (taking Highway 1 of course!). There will be a sendoff dinner on September 22nd and a celebratory “we got there!” banquet on September 25th in LA. And did I mention the helicopter? ALL proceeds from these events (including Ferrari drivers’ signup) will be donated to Opportunity Impact.

OI is a SF-based nonprofit that works with elementary and middle school aged children from less privileged backgrounds. The teachers and leaders at OI work with the kids after school and during summers to stress the importance of academics, teamwork, and goal-setting.

According to the organization’s website, Opportunity Impact’s goal is “… to create a new reality of unlimited opportunity for this generation of youth who are growing up in America’s lowest income communities.”

Last week, the CarWoo! team visited Opportunity Impact’s summer site. We got the chance to meet with Emily LoSavio, the program’s executive director, and a few of the kids from the program. Two of the FOG Rally drivers even came by with their Ferraris. You can check out all the pics on our Flickr set.

After the visit, I’m even more excited to be a part of this benefit. OI works with more than 200 Bay area kids – they participate in everything from reading hour to computer classes and weekly plays. One of their first students recently graduated from the 8th grade; she received a scholarship to one of San Francisco’s most prestigious private high schools. Talk about helping to make a change in someone’s life! Since CarWoo! is the presenting sponsor, we’re helping spread the word about the rally and how people can help donate to this awesome cause.

Here’s what you can do to participate in the FOG Rally and help Opportunity Impact:

1) Attend the FOG Rally Launch Party at Ferrari of San Francisco in Mill Valley. There will be a band, cocktails, food and Ferraris! Tickets can be purchased here.

2) Attend the FOG Rally Banquet Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles. There will be live entertainment and a silent auction. Tickets can be purchased here.

3) If you don’t live close to California, you can donate online. I’ll be riding along on the rally, so I’ll be sending photos and updates from the road.
