Lima and Eastwood Appearances Score Touchdowns for Manufacturers; Broderick and Seinfeld Fumble [INFOGRAPHIC]

Like many of you, the CarWoo! team enjoys the Super Bowl ads just as much as (or maybe more than) the Big Game itself. Especially when some of our favorite celebrities make cameos during the ads. But how much do these commercials affect product sales?

With auto manufacturers spending 3.5 million a pop for the airspace alone, and potentially another few million on celebrities, one would expect they are hoping for a significant return on their investment.  With this question in mind, we crunched the number for our latest infographic. We wanted to see which ads showed early promise of affecting sales and which ads reached the brand awareness endzone and which ads fell short of a goal.

Women Are More Practical Car Buyers; the Best Car Deals Go to West Coast Men [INFOGRAPHIC]

After spending the first few weeks of 2012 compiling and analyzing our 2011 new car buying data – one fact has become glaringly obvious: women are more practical car buyers than men. While the average new car offer for a man is around $31,911, women typically seek cars and options that land them at a $28,306 price range. However, the two sexes save about the same. Men usually get 10.3% off MSRP and women get around 10.2% off MSRP.

Higher Prices Double Length Of New Car Negotiations

So not only have we proven that car prices are starting to stablize, especially if you’re looking for a Nissan, but the CarWoo! Marketplace has also demonstrated an interesting tidbit about human psychology. CarWoo! data, obtained from their online MarketPlace for new car buyers and sellers, reveals that after peaking during July, the rigor of negotiation appears to be lessening as new car prices begin to return to first quarter 2011 levels.

Inventory Shortages Remain an Issue for Automakers

In spite of improving prices for customers, inventory shortages remain a major issue for popular auto suppliers.  Inventory levels are demonstrated in the CarWoo! MarketPlace by dealers indicating that they are Out of Stock. We can also tell that shortages are happening when dealers make increasing numbers of offers for vehicles that are not exactly what consumers are looking for.

Most Popular Color Choices for SUV’s

So we did sports cars, and we did minivans, and now, to conclude the series on the most popular car color choices, we’ve got SUV’s brining in the rear (and quite a large rear it is…hehe…he).

After studying the results, it seems that SUV owners are similar to their minivan brethren in that they prefer vehicles that would not change color were they driven through the first ten minutes of The Wizard of Oz (ie – they like riding around in black and white and every shade in between). In fact, a crazy 67% of new SUV buyers choose black, silver, gray or white.

Minivan Colors – Which Shades Are the Most Popular

Last week we released a post revealing the most popular color requests for sports cars in the CarWoo! Marketplace. It turns out that many more sports car buyers are fans of the sleek and sexy, and non-light absorbing black than any other color. But do minivan buyers reflect the same trend? Not so much.
