Women Are More Practical Car Buyers; the Best Car Deals Go to West Coast Men [INFOGRAPHIC]

After spending the first few weeks of 2012 compiling and analyzing our 2011 new car buying data – one fact has become glaringly obvious: women are more practical car buyers than men. While the average new car offer for a man is around $31,911, women typically seek cars and options that land them at a $28,306 price range. However, the two sexes save about the same. Men usually get 10.3% off MSRP and women get around 10.2% off MSRP.

We also learned that older buyers and West Coast buyers get slightly better discounts. You can check out more 2011 data in the infographic below.

I was wondering if you would share how you arrived at this data? Do you have access to the dealer transaction prices?

Scott, based on the article, my guess is that they’re comparing accepted offers from male and female buyers through their service so this would be data within their system. (based on this quote from the text, ”
While the average new car offer…”)

We do not have access to dealer’s transaction prices.  The data comes via offers made through our system.

So the “better discounts” (first place on the list) referenced that Jeep has achieved during 2011 is really based on an offer(s) made by the dealership(s)?

        That is correct.
