Best Cars Under 15K

Some people like to say that good things come in small packages, but those good things better not put a big dent in my wallet, which is where the best cars under 15K come in. All of the car manufacturers have become more mindful of doing more with less these days, and that doesn’t result in a lesser car; it results in a more well-rounded vehicle. And, much like the people purchasing these vehicles, they are practical, comfortable, stylish, technologically savvy, and they make a mean breakfast. Okay, maybe not the last part – that’s me I’m thinking of.

Top Pick in Best Cars Under 15K: Ford Fiesta

The Ford Fiesta was a real Miss America in this year’s rankings, and it seemed that reviewers couldn’t say enough good things about this little party on wheels. Although the name is a little cheesy, this guy was voted one of the best buys by US News, coming in as their number one pick in Affordable Small Cars.  The name is true, however, as the Fiesta comes in a sedan or hatchback with a snappy interior and some of the most fun colors you’ll see on the market (Lime Squeeze! Blue Candy!). That light-hearted feel carries over into the driving experience, where reviewers have said you can expect a sporty ride with zippy handling. See all of the adjectives ending in –y that I’m using to describe this thing? It’s a blast, which is why it was my top pick for best cars under 15K, and I know because I test drove one! Not to be outdone on fun, the Fiesta comes with excellent gas mileage, and Microsoft SYNC, which is a full media spectrum of hands-free and voice-activated services. From music to texts, you’ll never have to take your eyes off the road again.

First Runner-Up in Best Cars Under 15K: Hyundai Accent

Full disclosure: I just bought a Hyundai Accent, and I love it. That’s the great thing about cars – there is one that is perfect for your needs and situation. For me, the Accent was fuel-efficient and affordable, which were the top two needs on my wish list. It averages out at about 40 mpg/hwy, which means I can spare myself the hassle and the public suffering of sobbing at the gas pump, and I took home my Accent, with a few extra options, at right around 15K. The base model MSRP is around $12,545, which is great reason to put this on my best cars under 15K, but you’ll want to upgrade to power windows and doors and the like. And don’t be afraid to buy brand new; Hyundai will offer you their Hyundai Assurance, which guarantees the kind of trade in value you can expect from your new ride.

Second Runner-Up in Best Cars Under 15K: Chevrolet Sonic

The Chevrolet Sonic came in to fill the space that was left when the company retired the Aveo, and so far reviewers have been nothing but pleased as punch with its debut. The Sonic comes with plenty of cushy standard features, but it also offers optional features that you don’t usually see in its class – sunroof, remote start, and heated front seats, for instance. The Sonic went full bent into the safety category, scoring almost perfect marks for its 10 airbags, and OnStar support, among other things. The flexibility of the Sonic is what landed it on my best cars under 15K list, because whether you’re looking for a starter vehicle, or one that will see you through your more grown-up needs, the Sonic can handle whatever curves you drive it around.
