Who knew? It only took a few short years to adapt Staples fictional “Easy” Button for real-world purposes. Evatran, a little company in Wythville, Virginia, has developed a Plugless Power (that’s the brand) wireless electric charging product for electric vehicles. There’s two components to the product; a little receiver that gets mounted on the underside of the electric vehicle, and the Plugless Power Easy Button:
No, it’s not really an Easy Button! It’s the wireless charger!
(Or a dog dish that you parked over in the garage.)
Evatran plans to sell the receiver and charger for $2500, hoping to make them available as an aftermarket option for the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf by year’s end.
A pilot program to test the merits of the charger is currently underway, with Hertz, the International Center for Automotive Research at Clemson and Duke Energy as the initial testers. Three additional companies and academic organizations will sign up in the next few months.
Come to think of it, there are other real world adaptations of the Easy Button; alcohol and drugs come to mind.
