The Land Cruiser’s rich cousin is back, and this time it’s got its own redesigned grille. What else is new? Glad you asked. Always looking to be a step ahead, here is the 2013 Lexus LX 570.
Lexus LX 570 Trims and Features
The Lexus LX 570 is a full-size luxury SUV competing with the likes of the Cadillac Escalade, Land Rover Range Rover, and oddly enough, even the Toyota Land Cruiser. The 2013 edition is offered in one trim only. LX traits include V8 power, seating for 8, 20” alloy wheels, and a number of upscale interior aspects, including leather and wood trim. The standard tech list includes voice activated navigation, a backup camera, and Lexus’ Enform infotainment system with Safety Connect. Available items are equally impressive, though they add up quickly. Buyers can stack on a 19 speaker surround sound system, a wide view front mounted camera with park assist, and a dual screen rear DVD entertainment package. Weigh every option for yourself now, at Carwoo.
Lexus LX 570 Performance
Every LX 570 comes with a 5.7 liter V8 that’s capable of a healthy 383 horsepower and 403 lb.-ft. of torque. This is paired with a 6-speed sequential shift automatic transmission- the sequential shift aspect allowing drivers a manual shift mode. Satisfying your wildest traction desires, full-time 4-wheel drive is standard on every LX, complete with a limited slip locking center differential. If you get really wedged, there’s this: the LX’s off-roading experience is bolstered by Crawl Control, which takes over braking and acceleration at low speeds, allowing drivers to fully concentrate on steering. And new this year is a Multi-terrain Select that offers 5 different terrain options, designed to match what’s beneath you at any given time. Tow capacity is 7,000 lbs.
Lexus LX 570 Fuel Economy
The downside to a big engine, all-time 4-wheel drive, and 6,000 plus pounds is centered right about here. Expect 12/17/14 (city/highway/combined) MPG, as estimated by the EPA- on premium fuel nonetheless.
Lexus LX 570 Interior Highlights
A wealth of detail can be found inside the LX’s spacious cabin. New this year are an Easy Access driver’s area, complete with retracting steering wheel and seat, to go along with improved chrome instrument paneling and mahogany wood trim. The Enform infotainment system gives access to a variety of applications like Facebook and movie ticket purchases-oh, and navigation and emergency services too. Acclimation to full-time traveler has never been easier: even individual body temperatures can be regulated by- not 2 or 3- but standard 4-zone climate control. Like many SUV’s the LX’s 3rd row is strictly kid-sized, though 1st and 2nd row occupants have plenty of move about space. To utilize the available 83.1 cubic feet of storage space, the 50/50 split 3rd row seats power fold against the side walls, while the 60/40 middle row slides forward. If all 8 seats are in use, cargo space shrinks to 15 ½ cubes.
Lexus LX 570 Safety
LX standards include 4-wheel Multi-terrain antilock disc brakes, stability & 4-wheel traction control, rain sensing wipers, and 10 standard airbags- including driver/passenger knee & full length curtain bags. The standard navigation system includes a backup camera; an extra $1,000 will afford drivers a front camera and park assist, with $1,500 more paying for a Pre Collision System and radar regulated cruise control. In the event of unavoidable emergencies, Safety Connect offers various roadside services. There are no crash test numbers for the LX 570.
Lexus LX 570: The Bottom Line
The LX is a rare breed between class and crass. On the one hand you can get dirty off-road and maintain comfort and dignity from within the cabin. That is, if you can manage the $81,000 starting price and 14 combined MPG. That’s the other hand. If you’re able to put those two together, you deserve some applause because the 2013 Lexus LX 570 is a very nice ride. Show off by grabbing one now.
