2013 Lexus GX 460 – Wild Luxury Meets Caged Comfort

Tired of living like a savage whenever you feel the need to get away for a spell?  Meet the 2013 Lexus GX 460, guaranteed to keep creature and comfort as separate as you want them to be.

Lexus GX 460 Trims and Feature Highlights

The GX 460 is a large luxury SUV offering seating for seven, V8 power, and full-time all-wheel drive.  Starting at just over $53,000, the 2013 GX is the rare luxury vehicle that is trustworthy in off-road conditions, due in no small part to the Toyota 4Runner blood running through its chassis.  On the other hand, the Lexus tag means that you’ll be able to enjoy on-road class and comfort in big doses, with standards like dual-zone climate control, leather & wood trim inside, and 18 inch alloy wheels to show off with.

If you want more, feel free to stock 2013 GX with any number of extras, including navigation, Enform infotainment, and the newest safety tech including a lane departure alert system for the sleepy/distracted among us.

Lexus GX 460 Performance

Every Lexus GX is given a 4.6 liter V8 worth 301 horsepower and 329 lb.-ft. of torque.  The V8 is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and full-time 4-wheel drive, and while you don’t get many options to play with, what is offered is solid.  The GX is designed to offer both finesse and ferocity, and the 4.6 liter V8 does equality right.

Lexus GX 460 Fuel Economy

Maintaining a luxury V8 isn’t often cheap, but Lexus manages to keep the GX in check with an EPA estimated 15/20/17 (city/highway/combined) MPG, courtesy of premium fuel.

Lexus GX 460 Interior Highlights

Luxury is found anywhere you turn inside GX, and though the excess tech can be a bit daunting for those not before been immersed, Lexus provides a nice & easy layout from which to push buttons and make things happen.

GX’s three row setup can prove useful for people hauling, though the third row gets tight, with just 29 inches of legroom, compared to 34” in row number two.  You’ll have just a bit less than 92 cubic feet of total cargo space to work with, which should suit most owners just fine.

Lexus GX 460 Safety

Every 2013 GX will see antilock brakes with brake assist, stability/traction control, a backup camera, rain sensing windshield wipers, Safety Connect emergency/roadside services, and 10 airbags.  Whew.  Need more?  Parking assist can be attached to either GX model; lane departure warning, pre-collision, and dynamic cruise control systems are available on GX 460 Premium trims in packaged form.

Crash test ratings are unavailable for the 2013 GX.

Lexus GX 460 Summary

It’s a great dual threat in terms of on and off-road capability, and though competitors like the Mercedes, BMW, and Land Rover are more highly regarded, it’s nice to have the ability to look good in town and be able to get away from the crowd when you need to.
