Ford is back with the 2013 Focus ST, and they’re ready to do battle with the best hatches around the globe. Check out what ST brings to the table.
Ford Focus ST Feature Highlights
The 2013 Focus ST is a 5-door performance driven hatchback that’s brand new for the US market. Drivers can look forward to a turbocharged 4-cylinder kicking out 252 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque, sport tuned suspension & steering, and plenty of lightweight styling. On the outside, Ford differentiates its hot hatch with 18” alloy wheels, an aerodynamic roof spoiler, one piece mesh grille, optional HID headlights, and ST badging so that you don’t forget what you’re looking at.
Inside ST you’ll have plenty of customization options including heated two-tone leather seats, as well as dual-zone climate control, sunroof, ambient lighting, MyFord Touch infotainment, and navigation. SYNC comes standard, and you can combine most of the aforementioned tech options in one of two package options offered by Ford.
That ST Growl
To help drivers maximize their auditory senses while driving ST, Ford has come up with something called a sound symposer box which pipes acceleration and gear shift hums to the driver, so that getting up to speed can be felt and heard. Combined with the dual-pipe exterior exhaust, ST’s animal tendencies should affect all senses equally.
Starting at $24,495, Focus ST will be a relatively inexpensive way to maximize small time efficiency and flat out fun driving dynamics. Look for 2013 Focus ST on the street as soon as August.

Ford Focus ST Performance
Every 2013 Focus ST is fitted with front-wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.0 liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder worth 252 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. Direct injection and 92 horsepower more than the regular Focus 2.0 liter engine should make for many happy faces, and some decent 0 to 60 times. Another performance touch- Focus ST comes with a 6-speed manual transmission only, so get your clutch foot in shape.
Ford Focus ST Fuel Economy
Official EPA estimates aren’t out yet for 2013 Focus ST, though rumor has it that drivers can expect 23-25 city and 33-35 highway MPG. These numbers are generous, but warranted, as Ford has done well keeping their EcoBoost engines in check.
Comparatively, the 2013 Escape gets 22 city and 30 highway MPG with the 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine at around 3,500 lbs., numbers that the aerodynamically enhanced and lighter ST should trump. One other note- the ST’s 252 horsepower is powered by premium fuel.
Ford Focus ST Interior Highlights
The unique ST badging doesn’t stop once you get inside. Ford gives ST aluminum pedals and shifter plus specialized sport gauges that light up the dash. Cloth sport seats come standard but shoppers have the option of adding either full or partial leather Recaro sport seats complete with the ST stamp; the partial leather seats come in Tangerine Scream, Performance Blue, and Smoke Storm two tone varieties. Ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, heat for the seats, and SYNC & MyFord Touch infotainment features ensure that owners have plenty of niceties to play with.
Ford Focus ST Safety
Safety standards for Focus ST include antilock disc brakes, dual front airbags and 2-row side curtain bags, as well as MyKey technology. Crash test results haven’t been released yet but the 2012 Focus receives good results all around, so don’t expect much change.
